The Fortune Cookie Cart
March—May

As the seasons change, The Fortune Cookie Cart will appear across markets and festivals across Tāmaki Makaurau, offering the promise of a reverse fortune – not a prediction of the future, but a musing on the past: a stranger’s advice. Anybody who discovers the cart will have the chance to receive a fortune so long as they pay a simple price: offer some wisdom of their own.

Plant Magic
Satya

Our second instalment of our pop-up breakfast series features Plant Magic’s Gemma Walsh and Satya Chai Lounge's Bar’s Samrudh Akuthota serving a selection of South Indian favourites.
This special edition two-course meal features upma and chai served street-food style and a contemporary take on dosa and mango lassi.
Tickets include a pay-it-forward component allowing us to work with social enterprise project The Village Café to put on a free breakfast event at Metro Theatre in Māngere East.

Tactile Histories
April 22 & May 20

All fabric tells a story – whether it’s an old shirt, a well-worn blanket, or the material from a bag you once loved. In this three-hour workshop, Indonesian artist Rozana Lee invites you to bring along a piece of fabric that has special significance to you – and to turn it into a simple collage you can hang on your wall.
All additional materials will be provided – participants just need to bring a piece of fabric (big or small) that holds a special memory.

The Claw
May—June

As winter arrives, a sea of plush creatures will appear in Northcote Town Centre, searching for new friends and new homes. Everybody will have the opportunity to take one away. The catch? They’re nesting inside a giant claw machine, and you’ll have to bring your sharpest technical skills to guide one home.

The Mood Machine

Popping up in secret locations across Tāmaki Makaurau, The Mood Machine will listen to the way you’re feeling and diagnose you with a piece of art and some writing to match.
Curated by Emma Ng and Hera Lindsay Bird and featuring work by some of the most exciting young artists and writers in Aotearoa, prepare to discover new worlds, gravity-bending perspectives, and fierce heartbeats that echo long after you’ve left.
Featuring work by Xun Cao, Vanessa Crofskey, Robbie Handcock, Ana Iti, Gregory Kan, Sharon Lam, Eamonn Marra, Elisabeth Pointon, Stacey Teague, Sam Thomas, Tayi Tibble, Serene Timoteo, Jade Townsend, Chris Tse and Faith Wilson.

K-pop Kids
June–July

She’s danced with Beyoncé and Justin Bieber and choreographed for BoA, Cosmic Girls and SF9 – and now, Rina Chae and her crew are back with a high-energy K-pop kids show and interactive workshop for anyone aged 3 and up.
Presented as part of Auckland Live’s Pick & Mix, a series of free family-friendly performances and workshops.

Internship Programme

Focused on developing future arts managers and producers, the Satellites Internship Programme gives two emerging Asian practitioners the opportunity to develop core skills across producing and marketing at two arts organisations across 2018-19.
