ABOUT

In 2013 Playmarket launched Asian Ink, now an annual programme that supports the development of new work by Aotearoa Asian playwrights. It is run alongside their Brown Ink programme for Māori and Pasifika writers.

Each year, one Asian playwright receives a development workshop with a professional script advisor and support to develop the play, such as dedicated actors and reading opportunities.

In 2013 the Asian Ink playwright was Nathan Joe, who began developing Flesh off the Boat (later retitled Losing Face). Other recipients have included Chye-Ling Huang, Matthew Loveranes, Benjamin Teh, Arun Subramanian, and Cassandra Tse.
