Workshop

Prior to the opening of her exhibition Hail, Seoul-based artist and choreographer Lee Yanghee presents Ways of Viewing, a participative workshop at Te Tuhi.

In this workshop, Lee will share questions from her practice around the centre of the body, the centre of the world, and the centre of our community. Drawing on traditional Korean dance and club dance, this shared exploration will lead to a collective performance in the space employing The Viewpoints technique.

→ This is a free workshop but places are limited.

→ Participants are asked to dress comfortably (no large jewellery, jeans, shoes, or anything that restricts movement).

Following the workshop, we recommend those attending also stay to view Hail and the other upcoming exhibitions from 4pm.

ABOUT

Lee Yanghee confronts and engages in the language of performing arts, presenting her works in the form of temporary theatrical or exhibitional settings. Recent engagements unravel everything that constitutes dance, such as body, pleasure, and form, in digital video and analog performance. Lee majored in Korean Dance at Ewha Womans University and earned her master’s degree at New York University. Notable works include Aficionado, A Hedonist, Gesamtkunstwerk, Dusk, and Unlearn.
