ABOUT
Grace Bariso-Buenconsejo hails from Manila, in the Philippines, and moved to Aotearoa in 2016. She currently resides in Whangārei where she is the co-founder, programme coordinator and treasurer for the arts collective, Soil of Cultures. Bariso-Buenconsejo oversees the delivery of various activities and programmes and is responsible for managing funds and actively seeking out new funding opportunities for their collective.
A software product manager by trade, she brings her experience in project management and knowledge of design justice to Soil of Cultures (design justice is a principle of design that informs Bariso-Buenconsejo's work and that she helped translate into Tagalog). She is also a founding member of Gabriela Aotearoa NZ, an alliance dedicated to defending the rights and welfare of Filipino women and their children.
